Legal Counsel

We are seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to provide legal support across our client’s oil & gas exploration and production operations, with responsibility for transactions, contracts, compliance, financing and litigation management. Key Responsibilities * Provide legal advice on transaction structuring and oil & gas exploration and production activities. * Advise on exploration, development, production, community, land and pilotage matters. * Support capital markets transactions, debt and equity financing and negotiations. * Draft, review and negotiate contracts, legal documents, resolutions and memoranda. * Monitor legal and regulatory compliance and advise on changes in applicable legislation. * Coordinate litigation matters and manage external legal counsel. * Provide legal support to Technical, Operations, Finance and other internal teams. * Develop proactive legal strategies and provide other legal support as assigned by the General Manager, Legal. Qualifications & Experience * Bachelor’s degree in Law and qualification from the Nigerian Law School; must be a member of the Nigerian Bar Association. * Minimum 10 years’ legal experience, preferably within a producing oil & gas exploration and production company. * Strong experience in Nigerian oil & gas law, corporate law and commercial transactions. * Experience supporting technical and operations teams within the oil & gas sector. * Strong contracts, negotiations, compliance and litigation management experience. * Prior law firm experience and indigenous E&P experience will be an advantage.
